Margherita Berselli

"The Earth allows me to move my body in the space, defining and extending my limit. Earth is certainty, it's the beginning of the direction of a body and it allows the development of a landscape, a point of view, a new vision. Earth is transformation, merging, folding. It is inside of a rock, inside of its hardest and smallest part.“

To Margherita Berselli, scratching a resistant material, giving it a new shape that is different from its rough state, is a continuation of the natural transformation process. Her challenge is to find the subtle form connections between human and nature.

Engraving, digging, carving, etching, leaving a trace of our path on a stone. It happens as quick as a thought. In her hands, the mineral receives a new form, like an active subject, it can reactivate itself within the world, resisting to time, finding new rhythm.

She returned to Idar-Oberstein in 2017 to pursue a master’s degree in Gemstones and Jewellery utilizing her stone and sculpture experience.
